One of my goals this year is to finally go through the millions of photos that I have on another million memory cards stored in my drawer from some not so recent trips any more. I have a tendency to be glued to my camera when I am away and can take quite a few, which can overwhelm a tad when I get home. So in order they will not be, but here and there I will add some new ones for my Shop as well as to share with you, just because. I also am returning to Europe in a few weeks and want to take advantage filling those cards back up with a million more ;)

Feeling extra tired, a bit sad for no apparent reason, motivation lacking a bit, even for the stuff that I usually enjoy.. I know it is here.. The Winter Blues!! A bit early too, yikes!! So I told myself this morning, enough is enough!

Each simple task that I do during the day seemingly is more like walking through 5 inches of snow with lead boots, I then have to admit that the winter blues are creeping back into my life like they do each and every year. Time to take action to rid of it before it really gets to me in a serious way.

Here are my ways of beating the winter blues and of course would love to hear yours.

1. Exercise - I tend to take a break and fall out of my habits during the colder months, (really need to figure out staying on track 12 out of 12 months) but until then, this is when I am forcing myself back to the gym and yoga mat. Also the idea that in only a few months the warmer weather will return and with that smaller clothes that I want to feel more confident in.

2. Diet - Ok ok those many holiday treats that keep sneaking into the house.. Goodbye! Back to healthier choices and feeling the wonderful energy that comes with it.

3. Sun. I really need my sun! Today as a matter of fact it was warm and a cloudless sun filled day so honestly all of my deadlines will have to sit for a few why I take a book, or nothing outside and soak in it (with spf 30 ) of course. If it's a little to chilly out for me to bask in I then take a few minutes against the window which is also a saviour.

4. A night out with a glass of wine, gossiping, laughing and not worrying about what needs to get done. I will admit it has been awhile since I have taking the time to get out and am feeling the effects of that for sure. So this week sushi and wine I will be there!

5. Once a day, 1 tiny little thing to look forward to that is all mine, fifteen minute of uninterrupted time reading, watching a movie or just sitting still. Going for a walk with my ipod, soaking in a bath. All of those littile things can easiely be neglected I have to remember not to make them a last priority and then finding no time left in the day to even try.

6. Last but not least, planning holidays, events and fun things for the warmer months ahead, but not to forget to to that for now as well.

I love gold, I use to shy away from it when I was younger, out of high school, college days I guess, but I then found the most amazing strappy gold heels, in 2004 that I wore with everything, black dresses, jeans and a white tee, anything really. So when I saw these from Diego Dolcini, I was reminded of those and now think its time to find me a new pair. Funny thing is, I built the outfit around the shoes, and then realized I do that most often then not.

Virginie Muys, Deborah and Priscilla Royer from Piece d'anarchive at their workshop on Place des Vosges, Paris.

I do not have much to go on this new line except an instinct and crave to see more, Virginie Muys, Deborah and Priscilla Royer from Piece d'anarchive persuaded 1 of France's last remaining knit factories to take on their production, which consists of incorporating up to 4 different stitches in one piece of knitwear, which is not an easy thing, but I can just imagine the finished quality. They made some great other first impressions as well as soon they will be carrying their line in Colette, 10 Corso Como as well as here in the United States. I am sure we will be hearing more from them in the near future.

And happy as well that I finally decided to pick up that book, it was staring at me for far to long.

Happy 2012 everyone!

The adventures, life, work and memories for 2012 now begin. I hope you all enjoyed your Holidays and celebrations with your loved ones. I unfortualtely lost a dear friend who lost his battle with diabeties on New Years Eve and only at the young age of 38. It really took my focus on things to a new angle and had me look my goals a lot differently, (of course). And from that I found this wonderful Manifesto for 2012 from Fat Mum Slim and a new challange for the year of taking a photo a day, that I will be sharing with my instagram beginning with these two photos that will help mark the little things this New Year, which I find are the bigger things when you look back.
Thank you to Bec Winnel for intoducing me to Fat Mum Slim's blog and this fun challage. Photography marks memories in such a distinctive way and in Memory of Dustin Crain who was a photographer himself, I am ready to take on this challenge each of this 365 days to follow. RIP my dear old friend.

I have the 2nd oil painting to finally share with you which is for my client and exhibition in London, I had to go through some touch ups and yes with oils it is a patient process. ( a good lesson for a slightly impatient person as myself). This one was based on a beauty shot from the talented Jan Welters. I am going through some of my favorite photographers for this entire series, so honestly I am more then anxious and excited to get going on the third.

Also with the cat and mouse game of trying to get caught up on this oh so amazing busy month that is December, . I am still not done with shopping for Christmas, but today woke up to at least 10 inches of snow here in Denver, the car is staying put and a hot long bath instead.. of course..

Pardon the dust, I have been absent with a crazy schedule getting ready for the Holidays, work and in the midst of redesigning my blog, so do not be surprised to see a few changes each time you visit. I had changed it a few months ago and was just not feeling it, to which I switched back and found out something went wrong when I published it and caused some serious panic trying to fix.. But good news has come of it and I admitted I cannot be everything at once and decided to make it official and hire my first intern, (Joy!!) The Lovely Brittany from Gallery No. Eight.

I actually mentioned on Twitter a few weeks ago that I needed one and she came immediately to my rescue. So Brittany, I am beyond happy to have you!!

I wanted to share with you my work for Creem Magazine. This is the 2nd time I have teamed up with the talented Jenn Cress who is the editor and chief of the magazine and an amazing photographer. Here is our other project this year for 303Magazine.

For this project I illustrated Carla Sozzani of 10 Corso Como, Sarah Lerfel of Colette and Carol Lim of Opening Ceremony for an interview feature.

The magazine will be available at Barnes and Noble on December 7th and various other magazine stands throughout the US.

She is done! The first of my Paolo Roversi series.

I was reminded of my paitence again by pulling out the oils, cannot believe how long it has been since I have created in that media, and I promised myself not to let that happen again. I really enjoy that medium, almost meditative for me. She is also the 1st of some exclusive work that I will be doing for someone (will share soon) and she is coming with me to London for an exhibition in March!! Omg so excited!! I will keep you all informed as I know more.

Weekend Randomness

Hi everyone, I hope your having a wonderful weekend. I have been using all of my free time to start a series of oil paintings inspired by the photography of Paolo Roversi. (completely in love with his work is an understatement) But here is the piece of his that I will be using for the first one. Cannot wait to show you.

Also while browsing Song of Style's blog for the look of the week, I caught the gorgeous townhome of Jenna Lyon of J.Crew and couldn't help but wonder where I could come up with a quick 3.75 million... The window seating alone has sold me..

Catching a cold is never fun, but have to admit, I am not the one that feels better sitting still either trying to cure the darn bug.. I have said it a million times, I am antsy and to get me to just sit still is a difficult task. Proud Gemini here!

I can sit do not get me wrong here just (not) still. I will have a book/magazine in hand, movies and the ipad out, taking notes, learning french, sketching, checking my e-mail. You get the picture, oh and usually all at the same time.. (lifelong multitasked individual) but on that note, the one such thing to put me in a meditative mood and away from that multitasking of my brain and the fact that I do not feel well always is drawing.

I came across the photography of Marc Yankus last night and immediately felt inspired to create from one of his blurry textured photos. They are memorizing, soft and with the blur pull a long focus of the eye to continue to look deeper in the photograph to find its shape.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do and I am sure this will not be the only time I create a piece from Marc.

Time to Renew // An Instagram DIY

Flipping through my Instagram feed a few weeks ago I found the perfect motivation to fix and make pretty again one of my favorite bags, my beloved Balenciaga.

She is beat up, worn out and has been through many of life's events with me.. but I will not part and I know I surely cannot replace at this point so happily I found the perfect answer, to dye it new again thanks to Liz Vranesh.

Here is what she did with her vintage Chloe, love!

1. Old third hand Chloe bag

2. Remove extra pieces and unhinge/unzip everything else

3. Use a cleaning brush and laundry detergent under the sink to scrub leather (especially waterproofed) under water, rinse

4.Soak leather in due bath, turn every few minutes for even color

5. Rinse well and air dry, ta-da!!

I have to admit, I am one of those when it comes to hair styles that stick to a basic few, (only 3) straighten my natural curly hair, wear it natural and use the curling iron, and "I do not have time for my hair today and it is pissing me off" toss of a ponytail. But looking at this top photo of the gorgeous Karmen Pedaru looking so chic with her updo and braid I cannot help but think, I never take time to really try new styles with my hair.

I am not sure why, I just stick with the basic what works out of habit.. It could be though when I was working in a salon many years ago that I had someone give me a new style,

"Why not, whatever you think looks amazing and different". That obviously did not work for me (or anyone for that matter) and left looking like this,

The end of the week, thank you!! (All I want to do is sleep in this weekend!) I think this was the busiest weeks in a long time, and with Christmas around the corner all of a sudden (crazy as it seems) I have quite a few deadlines to fulfill in a short time before December settles in.

So for the weekend I am looking forward to a few movies, turning the alarm off, catching up a bit on my blog posting and enjoying yours before it starts all over again on Monday.

I have been going crazy this year with the decor for Halloween. I usually put up a candle and a few pumpkins, but with my daughter turning 8 this year I have decided to go a little bit further. I have to thank Martha Stewart for the inspiration and going for more DIY ideas then spending money. I could share more but I think you get the idea. Now a last minute costume idea?? Still have no clue what to wear/be. But I will share next week as well of course.

A quick pencil and pen sketch from today that I decided looked finished as is in its simplicity and quick strokes. Love when that happens.

I have been swamped behind the scenes, I guess you can say preparing for the Christmas rush already with commissions and some side projects, cannot wait to share everything!

I also wanted to share this post from Emily over at Cupcakes and Cashmere as it really hit home with me, admitting as of late too that I have been a bit more irritable and impatient. Sometimes I take on more then I should and then well a not so very fun Leigh. And I really like to be the fun happy Leigh.. So as Emily says, admitting is the first step.

"Faulty Behavior"

"We all have faults – those inherent flaws in our personalities that make us act unfavorably at times. I’d never classify myself as the patient type, but lately I’ve found myself even more irritable than usual. I’ve been avoiding movie theaters due to the loud breathers/talkers/seat kickers that inevitably sit beside me, I find myself irrationally annoyed when drivers park their cars too close to mine, and recently I ditched an interior design project because it was taking longer than expected.

I’m not justifying my behavior (especially given my own history of bad parking jobs), but sometimes it’s good to simply be aware of your (not so admirable) habits, so that you can make a change. I have plenty of faults, but my impatience certainly tops the list. What’s your biggest fault?" ~Emily

Driving around today in love with the colors of Fall, so gorgeous and need to take a day trip to the mountains before the first snow takes away all of the color and leaves a blank canvas for winter. But so happy to finally pull out this amazing sweater from Textile Elizabeth and James In love with the textures and just enough holes to keep from feeling bulky.

I also want to mention my good feel news of the day, my Cricket print made it's TV debut this morning in Canada on CityLine.

Isnt this just so inspiring? Fell in love with the collar and thought I would share this as I am working away on a commission and also trying to figure out a good bookshelf for cheap, for now. I want to eventually refurbish or find a good low long white one, but until I do I need something to hold a million books that looks good and is not too much of an investment. I am going to run over to Ikea (my first ever trip btw) for some ideas. Will keep you posted...

What I am wearing today, but I already have my mind on tomorrow being completely inspired by Scott Schuman's latest post perfect mix of everything really. Fall is just so fantastic with being able to layer each season into one day.

Also here are a few photos from Erasure and Frankmusik on Tuesday night. So much fun! I was drinking draft beer though and can definitely say a wine buzz is a bit better for me. I do not drink beer much, except maybe 1 glass here or there, so major difference between the two, .. Also caught this gold skirt outside and well want it.

Knots and Summer Goals

Fall is in the air for sure today, slight brr but I love the layering factor of a jacket as the day will begin to warm up, off it goes. And this cashmere vintage skirt is complete comfort. I have owed it since high school and actually feel like I am wearing a soft blanket all day.

After this labor day weekend I also start putting summer behind me and begin to concentrate on Fall goals, but that doesn't mean we cannot still enjoy what we loved about summer, like eating outside on warm nights, sitting in outdoor cafe's, taking long walks around the neighborhood, and my favorite pastime, soaking in the warm sun on the porch with my books and magazines. If the sun is warm enough I will be doing that year round. But even though there is so much to still do, I feel like summer flew by and I didn't get to do a ton that I had set my heart set on.
For instance, I really was hoping this was the summer to head back to Europe, (Wait I have been saying that each year) but in all honestly with schedules next spring will do, so I decided NYC this fall instead ;) I also wanted to write in my journal more and get back into my love of language learning (I hope to be fluent in French, Italian and Spanish) eventually! But there is always time and definitely no regrets.

Happy weekend everyone,! A tiny bit cooler today so happy I was to pull out my long sleeve BB Dakota silk dress, but silk has a great way of adjusting to the weather anyway. Also in love with my new Elizabeth and James Falin shoes, a great basic to go with everything all year really. And for running around during the day and shipping out orders my Dolce Vita sandals.

Well and since it is a long weekend here in the States I plan on breaking out the wine (which I do on a normal basis with a glass a night) but with it being a holiday it seems more important ;) I thought I would share with you my 2 absolute favorites that I highly recommend.

With a Twist

Today we welcome September and for me personally a new year, 3rd of the year for me, this day, my birthday and the official new year. I love September as it is still warm out, but I love the feeling of Fall around the corner and my 3rd try to get it all right (year after year)!! Its all about hope and optimism right?

In a rush this morning and have no idea what prompted me to wear a dress as a shirt other then the fact that it was wrinkled and I was out of time, but I decided to just knot up my Michael Stars dress into a top.. It is definitely debatable.

In other news I meet this lovely blogger, Zoe through Tumblr and she shared with me her pics for drugstore makeup with this video below and I thought I would share it with you as well. Great ideas as we all love to save money. A bit like my look on fashion, it is always smart to mix the high and low and to find what works for you. Enjoy and thank you Zoe!

Not sure if most of you know, but I used to be a professional freelance Makeup Artist and Esthetician for almost a decade before I decided it just was not fulfilling my heart as a career to which I then decided to pursue my art full time. (yay for following my gut) I wanted more creative control I suppose but am blessed and happy that I did get to work in that industry as well as I feel it put so much influence into where I am now with my art and photography. I learned so much from the photographers, especially lighting that I didn't in school and just the ideas that were focused on when putting together a photoshoot. So in regards I wanted to show you this wonderful eyebrow tutorial from Anastasia who is based in Beverly Hills.
Anastasia has long been the definitive eye and brow expert for icons such as Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Oprah as well as hip up-and-comers like Diana Agron, Selena Gomez and Kristen Cavalari and has recently expanded into colors that match their superior standards for skincare based cosmetics.

A Night Out With Ann Taylor

Last night I attended a private event for Ann Taylor to celebrate their second concept store opening up here in Denver. An extremely warm day so simplicity is what I was looking for as the party was to be held on the pool terrace of the Four Seasons which also recently is new, so curious to check out both and stay as cool as possible in a strapless Greylin dress. I was really drawn to their outerwear for fall, especially the canvas trench that was heavier then most and would work well for the cold winters I endure here without feeling like I am in extra bulk walking out the door. A few touches of gold and animal print that also drew me in that would harmonize with their well tailored basics.
After the party we headed across the street to stuff our faces in the most polite sort of way of course.

Hi everyone, hope the week is going well, I am crawling out of a funk that I have been in for a few days, not even sure why or where it comes from, but I am a true Gemini in that sense. And just glad it is over! (Apologies to all those that were around me and had to deal) ;) So moving on to a good day of course and some Missoni!

I am sure you have heard by now that Missoni is collaborating with Target, I am beyond excited, and a ton to pick from (400 items) in total, yikes!! It all begins September 13th in stores and online. Hello Weekend! And My Bergdorfs Instagram obsession

Happy weekend lovelies! xo What are your plans? I am looking forward to reading a ton, sleeping in and maybe fitting in a pig roast ;)

I also will be posting later on today a giveaway from Shopbop so stay tuned! And some new work this weekend as well. I actually just finished up this week on a project that I am super excited about for Creem Magazine that involves the fabulous boutiques of Colette, Browns of London, Opening Ceremony and 10 Corso Como. that should be coming out in September so cannot wait to share.

Last but not least I want to share my latest obsession which is Bergdorfs Instagram. She is giving new life to some fabulous shoes around Manhattan J'adore!! I am also addicted to instagram in general, you can follow my photos here as well.

A Smoothy to Smooth The Day? & Fall Transitional Picks.

Hello everyone,

An effortless and comfortable outfit to keep me cool from the 100 degree heat and a sweater to throw on while drawing away in my office with the swamp cooler. I also hope the rest of the morning goes smoother then the start of the day. I was faced with a large traffic jam this morning while getting my little one off to school. All of the lights went out and caused a complete stop to all of us trying to get somewhere. My poor baby then ends up late to school and with a tardy stamp. I should of asked if I could be stamped as well it was not really her fault. awww.

Well even though it is still hot as ever out, I have Fall on my mind and wanted to share with you some of my absolute favorite transitional pieces that would help as the evenings get cooler and layering becomes more important, and the bag has no importance to weather, but well it just is one of those musts as the season changes, right? ;)

Starting the day I was reading this hilarious and well written article, N.Y. Skinny vs Paris Skinny over at Garance Dore's blog about the difference's in how New York girls and Paris Girls lunch and her adapting with moving to Manhattan from Paris. I definitely recommend hopping over to check it out. I am continually bitching about how the portion sizes here in the US are so ridiculous but find myself so often doing the same thing, eating more then I should!! I too like Garance will dive straight in for the bread at the table, I am not afraid of grabbing that roll, I love my bread! But as they say life is all about moderation, I just need to learn to leave a few crumbs behind ;)

Good Mornings and What Makes For Good Leftovers

School is back in session for my daughter so getting up earlier than I have been for a few months (Those summer months I am spoiled with sleeping in ;) ) but have to admit enjoying getting back into the hustle and bustle that mornings bring. But honestly we shall see how long it lasts, as it's still warm out after all.

I also wanted to share with you a recipe from last night, (says it is super easy and quick) well maybe it is, but because it is a new recipe for me the 20 min it says it takes to prepare was more like 60 for us (probably just me) but any which way it was good and definitely will be my lunch today too. I got the recipe out of this book (Super amazing and recommend getting ), but you can cook a similar recipe from All Recipes online as well.

Have a wonderful Tuesday, I am off to find calamine lotion because I seem to be a tasty treat for the mosquitoes as of late, I seriously have lost count how many bites I have received eww!
