"Social Graces"

Ok so I have finally jumped on the Downton Abbey bandwagon, and more then obsessed I will admit, maybe for the fact that I went on a complete marathon watching episode after episode and became emerged in the life of the early 1900's. (Marathon television btw is a gift especially while I am drawing and painting. It gives me great company and I tend to not visit the actual television very often).

While watching though and what I think had me drawn to it was the simplicity of life (well for the most part) and the manners, those wonderful manners that I feel have been swept under the rug more with each decade.

I only can say I am just as guilty in this day and age with the ways of life, especially with the phones, omg we are all on the phone! I love it oh yes and need it especially with running a business online but realizing more and more to organize time slots to get back with everyone instead of the right here and now because I received a notification in that instant. As far as manners go, I am keeping it tucked away in the company of others, as best as I can anyway.

I just need to plan an abundance of dinner parties, with such elegance and importance to each guest as the nightly dinners from the Crawley's and make sure we all throw our cell phones in a basket until the end of the night.. But then I think I might miss a few great Instagram opportunities. ;)

My husband and I just started watching a few weeks ago and we're hooked. We are almost all caught up. But I must say, I am happy to live in today's age. Modern medicine and technology really are wonderful things. But I too could go without my husband checking his work email every 3 minutes during dinner. Sigh...

You had me about turning in the cell phones until the Instagram part. It's so true! I love capturing magical moments and sharing them. It's sad, but Instagram really has changed how I view most things in life. Sad, but also awesome.
