DIY Framed Chalkboard

A quick middle of the week DIY framed Chalkboard that needed to make way into my home. The only patience needed is waiting the 24 hour dry time before putting it to use. I found all of the materials at Michaels and instead of using glass I opted for a watercolor panel which comes in the perfect sizes to fit any open frame you may want to use. Easy, easy.

I have also set a few days aside this week to update each listing in my Etsy shop by adding size variations to make it easier to shop and checkout without needing to set up separate listing for sizes for you guys, beyond happy they have made that possible, finally!! Now the fun part of adding new items for the Holidays.

Some fresh new work just added to the shop. This piece was inspired by the gorgeous Cara Delevingne by Karim Sadli for US Vogue. As I was creating this piece late into the night I had my ipad and another PBS show that has me hooked, Call the Midwife. 1950's setting and English accents seem to be calming to me, I suppose. Check it out if you get a chance.

MIA from the blog for a few weeks, blaming it on the gorgeous weather, last few weeks of school for my daughter before summer vacation and various art projects that called for my attention. As an artist, life is unpredictable as it is so sometimes it is needed for me to step back and catch up.

I cannot wait though to step into the summer schedule, which is a bit backwards from the rest of the year, (dragging to even get out of bed) !! But after this week when summer officially starts, I become the early, early bird, waking up sometimes before the sun rises and happily. I find the time with my coffee and the warm mornings are my favorite time of day. Gone be the rush of getting my daughter ready for school and driving with many others in a hurry. I can take my time, read the paper and gain a few more daytime hours for work that otherwise would be used up driving to and from school, joy and happy summer!

As for the art here I completed this stretched out due to my schedule as well. Happy she is finally done and glad to be back :)

A new piece for the shop today inspired by an editorial shot by Mariano Vivance for Vogue Russia. It reminded me of my Push painting a bit with her hair so of course the need to create was definite.

I am now off to watch Netflix movies from bed, one of those feelings all day that I might be coming down with something, a slight chill, a bit of fatigue... eeek no!! Hoping I just need some sleep and the chanting to myself that I have been doing all day, ("I am ok, I am not getting sick" x20) will do the trick. I honestly can tell you though I will end up doing a millions things just laying in bed. So let me correct the beginning of the sentence by including with my Netflix,.. read, watch tv, draw, emails. Come to think of it I should do that more often, a once a week office day from bed ;)

This piece was inspired while flipping through last Sundays NY Times T magazine with an ad staring Karlie Kloss wearing Tom Ford. A beautiful expression and 1920's feel that I couldn't resist to create from.

Wall Space

As I finish up the decor of furniture, shelving and other items that hopefully keep me organized in my home office, I also wanted to change up the walls. I decided to create something just for the space above my desk. The first one a bit of an abstract and the second photo is of an empty desk that I took at a friends studio in Paris this past spring. I cannot always promise a clean desk in front of me, but I loved the way this photo represents the promise that I can strive to get to all of those tasks accomplished each day. Also the way the chair was positioned, the light and the way it is just drew me in that day made for a wondrous photograph I was happy to get. Definitely will share when they arrive to my wall.

Well I must say I have missed this blog and you guys!. I had to step back for a few days and get caught up on everything needed to finalize for the Showcase. But finally almost there with the last details. Then to pack and prepare for London, Belgium and Paris!

One of my goals this year is to finally go through the millions of photos that I have on another million memory cards stored in my drawer from some not so recent trips any more. I have a tendency to be glued to my camera when I am away and can take quite a few, which can overwhelm a tad when I get home. So in order they will not be, but here and there I will add some new ones for my Shop as well as to share with you, just because. I also am returning to Europe in a few weeks and want to take advantage filling those cards back up with a million more ;)
