Weekend Randomness

Hi everyone, I hope your having a wonderful weekend. I have been using all of my free time to start a series of oil paintings inspired by the photography of Paolo Roversi. (completely in love with his work is an understatement) But here is the piece of his that I will be using for the first one. Cannot wait to show you.

Also while browsing Song of Style's blog for the look of the week, I caught the gorgeous townhome of Jenna Lyon of J.Crew and couldn't help but wonder where I could come up with a quick 3.75 million... The window seating alone has sold me..

Keeping it Simple

I think I found exactly what I want to be this year and inspired by Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava's sketch of a simple sexy ghost that I found here.

Might change my mind, but so far it feels right and maybe I will top it off with my lace bunny ears. ??

Hope your having a great week everyone! I am in the middle of moving while also finishing up some projects so a bit tight on the time, (what's new) ;) Wouldn't have it any other way regardless, but looking forward to getting into a fresh routine once settled a bit. I am also hoping to head out tonight to support the Tap Project in another way by visiting a local restaurant for World Water Week. To find one near you here is the list of restaurants that are involved. You also still have a chance to win the bottles that I illustrated, all for a wonderful cause. To read to watch inspiration

I posted these on my facebook and thought it would be a good idea to share them here as well. I just received this book that I will be starting this week, Another Bullshit Night in Suck City" It will also be made into a film for 2012 which starts filming this summer with Casey Affleck and Robert De Niro. Along with that I will be receiving my netflix copy of The Night Porter. Will let you know. ( Not sure either are good for lifting my spirits of the winter season though ) ;)

While in NYC and after setting up my art show at Charles Nolan this past June, I was browsing Gansevoort in the meatpacking district and discovered an amazing artist through the window right next door. Italian Artist Alex Turco. Unfortunately it was closed so I couldn't go in. But from the glass window I fell in love. I have one photo I took of his piece, Free below.



I cannot tell you how much more amazing his pieces are in person. He had this mixed media technique of a thick glaze that pored over his work and made is look like it was dripping wet with gel and especially the piece "Free" it looked like plastic wrap around the subjects face. AMAZING!!
Here is another photo I took of a reflection though the window trying to capture that texture.




I am definitely going to have to experiment with some of my work, I just love that spark of inspiration, such a great drive it brings. I will also hopefully have a new piece up tomorrow for you all as well :)
