Mending Rapture

© Leigh Viner 2017

A feel good, (because the sun finally came out ) and a bit of a lazy Sunday with work involved, if that makes much sense, but doing everything today at a snails pace. Closing up last weeks projects and to do's in order to feel refreshed for Monday. I will say that the only obstacle as of late really is the suffering of seasonal allergies, the worst. Never had them until this past few years, any tips and tricks to ease the suffering are most definitely welcome.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! ;)

The first creation for 2017!!
I love the fresh start a New Year brings, this past few days though it’s finally feeling that way, as the beginning of the week was still a bit stressful, but I am more then excited to start on my many goals I have written for the days, weeks and months ahead.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful first week of the New Year! xo

Still

Inspired by Akris Fall 16'

Warm weekend weather and a few hours in the studio finishing up this piece from last week. I have such a fun variety that I will be sharing this next few weeks from what I have been working on. Just beyond happy to be back in my studio full time after a hectic but amazing summer. Now off to put up some Halloween decorations, which I am sure will be posted on snapchat and instagram stories.
Until soon xo

Sweet Fault - Sketchbook Series

 photo SweetFault 2016LeighVinerSM_zpsjtjpfx82.jpg
© Leigh Viner 2016 Available here

So many wonderful things are happening at once and a bit of stress, but good stress! As I wrap my head around it all, I will share as it all comes together, but new work, big opportunities and just getting things put into place is how my next few weeks will be heading.
With that I am thankful for the few extra hours added to my schedule as my daughter has wrapped up her school year and we are officially on summer vacation. Life is good.

Proneness Version 2

 photo PronenessVersion2FSM_zpsyj5brhg7.jpg
© Leigh Viner 2016

Here's the 2nd version of Proneness, with the 1st one being more my illustrative style, this one I wanted to just let loose, use a ton of color and be completely messy.
I hope everyone enjoyed Mother's Day yesterday! I had such a wonderful day, not doing much and being spoiled with some new planted flowers that I hope to make last all summer.

Until soon xo

Proneness Version 1

 photo ProenessSM-LeighViner2016_zps1fgbzy9o.jpg
© Leigh Viner 2016

Version 1 of 2 of this piece I have been working on this week and hope to have the 2nd version up by the end of this weekend as well. It was one of those times I wanted to continue with various media, but liked the direction and look of it before I pulled out the oil paints. I can seriously freeze with an abundance of inspiration and directions I want to experiment with sometimes, so be it, diving into any and all that is calling. ;)

Also creating all day to James Blake's new album, "The Color In Anything" the song above on repeat with lyrics below.
Enjoy.

Where the rose water passes and dry river flows
Where the rose water passes and dry river flows

[Verse 1]
Where you lead me I will go
Where the rose water passes and dry river flows
And if that's the way this year
Guess the thorns are on and the bloom I always fear
Tell me where I have to go
And then love me there
Tell me when I have to go
And then love me there

[Interlude]
I won't be so loud if this is what you need
I won't be so loud if you won't take my lead
I know some men hurt more than me
But giving up is hard to do
But giving up is hard to do

[Verse 2]
This is a lonely off-white room
I keep my gaze on you, while other people move
Where you lead me I will go
Guess the thorns are on and the bloom I always fear
Tell me when I have to go
And then love me there
Tell me when I have to go
And then love me there

[Chorus]
Love me in whatever way
Love me in whatever way
Love me in whatever way
Love me in whatever way
Love me in whatever way
Oh, ah

[Verse 3]
This is a lonely off-white room
I keep my gaze on you, while other people move
Where you lead me I will go
Where the rose water passes and dry river flows
Guess the thorns are on and the bloom I always fear

[Chorus]
Love me in whatever way
(I can't give up, not now, not then)
Love me in whatever way
(I can't give up, not now, not then)
Love me in whatever way
(Not then, I can't go)
Love me in whatever way
(Not now, not then)
Love me in whatever way
(I can't give up, not now, not then)
Love me in whatever way
I can't give up, not now, not then, not then

About You - Sketchbook Series

 photo AboutYouSM-2016-LeighViner_zpsaledgprg.jpg
© Leigh Viner 2016

Until recently I have never really thought about selling prints from my actual sketchbooks. I usually just share mostly on Instagram but have been getting some requests and thought, why not! So look out for more to come along as a separate category in my shop.
This one above is available in my shop now.
I am feeling a bit overwhelmed this week due to breaking my phone. (Things could be worse I know ) but I really have come to rely on it for so many work related things, so until the replacement arrives I have been adjusting with a half ass working phone that freezes up when I need it the most. Still though I have managed to use snapchat, my latest social addiction. You can follow along here if you like, I am still getting into the rhythm, showing my goofy real life stuff, along with interests and work. Just all those little moments of each day.

Until soon xo

Sky Wolf

 photo Sky Wolf-SM-LeighViner2016-2_zps4ifmkka9.jpg
© Leigh Viner 2016

One of the 1st of a few illustrations to be added to my shop in the new year. I have been enjoying creating some personal work that was put on the back burner a bit last year for a few reasons, mostly juggling client work and also the days just continue to fill up with many other obligations, c'est la vie!
I also used to have the energy to pull the late nights and early mornings, but honestly, finding my way to give sleep a priority, a full 6-8 hours has made all the difference in the world on so many levels. For years and especially when my daughter was much smaller I was accustomed to maybe 3-5 hours of sleep a night as I would work after she went to sleep and then have to balance what I could during the day. I am thankful that I could do it back then as that was the only way at the time, but let me say, I love how much better I feel all around with a good night of sleep.. Everything in moderation, true true.

Bjork - Not Get (Vulnicura)

One of those rare days where time is on my side and the mix of work and leisure collide. Took advantage and finished up this piece which combined my mood for a bit of abstract and portrait. It was inspired by Josephine Skyriver for Porter Magazine.

Aurora

 photo AurorabyLeighViner_zps855bf3eb.jpg

Hello everyone! I hope your having a fantastic weekend. Wanted to share the newest edition to my shop from an archived piece that has been updated for the shop.

Also I will be heading to the humidity of Austin shortly and cannot help but think about what to do with my hair... I know so important, but really in the grand scheme of it all, a bad hair day can effect my entire day. I have naturally curly hair, which gives me options that I appreciate as I get older actually instead of looking at it as a bad thing as I did most of my childhood, but when visiting high humidity places it begins growing sideways in an uncomfortable and annoying manner, add heat to that and I just want it out of the way. I have not yet found a magical product that will keep my hair from misbehaving, so yes an up-do will have to do. Here are a few of my inspirations I will be taking with me.
